Ideal trekking destination in the deep Ardennes

I organized a three-day trekking with friends in Poix Saint Hubert at the end of October. We spent the night in the cozy hotel Le Val de Poix.
The receptionist Elisa was extremely flexible when booking and changing some details. Moreover, she is very friendly and perfectly bilingual (actually quintessential!).
The staff is always helpful and attentive. A special attention here for the waitress Sarah who made sure we lacked nothing. What a service!
The rooms are spacious and tidy. Breakfast is extensive and the half board is also recommended.
Big plus: you get off your train and your adventure in the great forests of Saint Hubert can begin.
The friends were also enthusiastic. We will definitely return!

Lovely setting, nice rooms. Staff in the restaurant was rude when we asked if we could just have dessert. No access to coffee in the room - not even hot water.

In the absence of anything else in the region

Room 35 level -1 in the annex in front of the station. The rooms are very poorly soundproofed. We heard the TV, the straight coughs and farts of our neighbour at 34 until 4am...the restaurant les Gamines was full, too bad the hotel does not offer 2 services because the restaurant was empty at 6:30pm. We were able to charge our electric vehicle (luckily because there are only 2 outlets) the rate of 3€/h between 8 and 9pm beyond 300 minutes is not deterrent.
The welcome is whatever.

Expected more of it...

Great hotel, well located, close to St Hubert, Mirwart, etc. We booked via bongo. At check in we were told we were getting a studio. In reality, this was a room with mezzanine on the 2nd floor. We wanted to eat in the restaurant in the evening, but this turned out to be full. We were recommended a restaurant in St Hubert, where we had a very good meal! Our room was outdated and very dark. Some more lighting (bridge evening, room) would be useful. The breakfast was 'special': no explanation of where we could sit, no more tables free... while there were tables, but these were not cleared... the lady in charge of the room was smoking outside at ease... she was approached by the lady in charge of the reception, after which the room manager was very rude and even arrogant... she started clearing tables with a lot of noise, just not done... maybe a tip to teach the person in charge what customer friendliness is if to replace them? Other people who arrived after us had the same problem: no more tables set and an unfriendly reception from the person in charge...

Very disappointing dining experience

Fairly Neutral Home and Comfortable Pension BUT Restoration underneath everything. For the evening meal imposed on half board, the starter was acceptable but the main course had no taste. It was poorly presented and far too hearty (from the big canteen food). The dessert was tasteless and the service far too fast. As for the breakfast buffet, it was relatively varied but very industrial. The eggs lacked flavor and the croissants were papier-mâché. Not recommended.

Very good location
