Excellent meal, attentive, friendly staff

We visited the Toby Carvery at Strathclyde on New Year's Day with our family of five adults and our granddaughter for a meal. Our server, Madison, was very friendly and attentive as were the other staff that we interacted with.
The carvery was excellent and we would certainly visit again.

Rude staff, poor customer service, food awful

I visited the restaurant on a day when it was -4 outside, I wanted a hot drink. Only to be told coffee machine was broken. When I went to the carvery there was no turkey due to an issue with one of the ovens. The veg was rock hard dried out, and cold. When I asked to speak to manager, was informed she was busy, I asked bar staff for email and phone number for customer service. As I was leaving the restaurant another customer told me that the staff were being rude because I complained.to Customer service and was told it would take 72 hours for a response the response failed to address my issue, it had no name as to who dealt with the matter, I complained again asking for area manager to get in touch, needless to say that never happened. Will never eat here again, have advised family and friends to do the same as well as putting the restaurant on social media advising people to avoid

Just off a handy motorway junction… Toby provides and ample function

Been here many times before and it’s generally for an overnight on our way home or to another destination. It’s really handy and convenient as just off the M74.
Room was as expected and cozy and clean and love the option in the shower of two heights. Great that once inside you don’t have to go outside again for dinner as it’s a walk through from rooms to restaurant bar. Staff all very pleasant and polite and it is what it says a Toby Carvery . It is a wee bit disappointing that there are fewer options for those who don’t want a carvery especially for those who may stay more than one night . Also note that the meats on offer are served a certain amount per portion ( however if only one type of meat required you are unable to have the weight of meat for that one meat that you would get for all four if you picked them all? Not everyone likes beef or turkey . Plenty of veg and potatoes and Yorkshire pudding . I decided to be different and chose tomato soup for starter and it was surprising very tasty and not just a tin of Heinz . The prawn cocktail for starter was pretty tasty too. I went for ciabatta with prawns as didn’t want the carvery as my tummy can’t eat that much food . Served with roast potatoes and I chose a little veg on the side from the carvery . Well priced Chardonnay and with the app got our discount too. Perhaps offer Lasagne … Standard Curry and a vegetarian option for those who don’t want the carvery . Just a suggestion. All in all did what it said on the tin and we wouldn’t have returned if we didn’t like it . Thanks guys

2 nights stay at Toby Carvery Strathclyde, M74 J6.

The bed was comfortable, but a lot of traffic noise as the building is adjacent to M74 junction. I did not think the room was clean, the dinning area tables and carpets were not clean, nor was the table I sat at in the bar area, I certainly think they require more staff in the bar and dinning areas. Parking facility is good but beware of holes on the road as you exit Toby Carvery area. I also feel it is over priced.

Awful

We were here August 2023 but the dates do not allow me to go that far back. Stayed here overnight while driving with my wife and son to attend an inpatient neuro rehab facility in the south of England. Arrive after 10 and when I went to check in at the bar I was told that the computer was switch off but I could just come down pay in the morning when we went for breakfast, its no problem. Asked me to write the car license on a piece of paper, ok.
The room was adequate but for £190 for one night we perhaps expected better than a pull down sofa bed.
The next morning just after 7 my phone was ringing, unknown number I hung up, it rings agin, I hang up again. Then a knock at the door. It was the cleaner saying that they wanted me to go down and pay . The easy going attitude of the nightshift obviously didn't last onto day shift.
My son and I go for breakfast while my wife stays to shower. breakfast was ok if you like fried food (which I do). I asked the waitress if they had any fruit and she looked at me as if I was talking a foreign language. While this was happening and my wife was in the shower the cleaner repeatedly tried to get into the room, despite being told my wife was in the shower. This was no where near check out time btw.
Now the worst part.
We go to England, stay for 4 months, get home to a pile of mail as you would expect. 2 letters were from parking enforcement fining us £170 for unlawful parking while we were staying at the hotel, despite the hotel advertising 'free parking'. we try to contact the hotel and booking.com but get no real response and it gets forgotten about. 1 year later we get a letter from debt collectors telling us we must pay this or else. I called and explained to the debt collector that there was no was I was paying it. Managed to call hotel, they put me through to head office who apologiesed and told us to call the hotel and as for Jo who could fix it. Jo could not or would not fix it, saying it had gone too far despite us having an email from the debt collector saying 'the clients' next step may be legal proceeding.
In summary AVOID, sleep in a street doorway or the back of you car. it will be cheaper and much less hassle. Anyone can make mistakes but to refuse to fix it is unforgivable.
GAVE ONE STAR BECAUSE 0 WASNT AN OPTION

Hiya I completely understand why you are frustrated and upset regarding this situation. I have tried to cancel this for you but unfortunately it is not allowing me which is out of my hands, however I did send you an email for you to forward on to Euro car parks to appeal it and explain that you were a guest staying at our hotel in the hopes this would help your appeal. I do hope this gets sorted for you and if there is any other way in which we can help please let us know. Thanks.
