Robbins Estate Fraud

This is a scam. I booked via booking.com for a March 11 to 13 stay in 2024. The address provided turned out to be run down weight lifting gym. I was leery of the place as it was dirty and asked to see the room before checking in. I was led up a set rickety outside stairs to a broken screen door and rotting wooden door opening into what looked like an apartment. The owner led me through the kitchen and said I will need to enter a code to unlock the bedroom door. I asked why I would need to lock the door and he said because there is another bedroom where someone else will rent. He also said that the rest of the room was a "common area" which is an absolute misrepresentation of what was in the booking.com listing. I said that I will cancel the reservation as I was misled about the booking. As I was walking out, the owner asked me to wait 5 minutes and that I will be happy I did. In this span of time, he went online and contacted booking.com to say I had checked which I clearly had not. When I went to my car and called booking.com, I was told by the agent that I had checked in and there was nothing that they could do. I contacted better business bureau and reported the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission.
