Wonderful stay!

Such an incredibly beautiful property With gorgeous Guest bedrooms and furniture. The Castle pub on site served amazing food with really lovely staff. I can highly recommend the white chocolate and raspberry bread pudding! I definitely stay here again!

The Castle bar is a local hangout now

We stayed in the big house back in the fall of 2022 and at that time the room was great, the restaurant was very good and we enjoyed the fireplace in the bar, below the restaurant. HOWEVER, things have changed. Our visit to the bar this time was disappointing. Most of the tables in the bar are "reserved" for "local groups" EVERY Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so if you would rather not sit at the bar you can sit at one of the two 8 seat shared tables that are in the back room. I felt like I had intruded on someone's private party and we had a quick one and left for the lounge at the Monmouth.

The whirlpool didn’t work, you had to take a shower in a high walled tub with no grab bar, but the water pressure was terrific. The toilet was missing a bolt so,it was woggly to sit on. The bedroom light fixtures were also wiggly to use. The bed was comfortable with great pillows. New it was very pretty, but presently needs a bit of maintenance. The bar was great with a great bartender, Rick. The restaurant offers tasty fare.

This was a great place to stay! Beautiful property and very well maintained! The front desk staff was awesome and gave us some great suggestions on where to eat. Highly recommend!

Disappointed with the facility, staff and management.

Upon arrival we were given our room key and very poor instructions as to how to get to the room. We ended up dragging our luggage up many more stairs than we needed to. When we finally found our room and opened the door, we found that the room was not cleaned. It was just as the last people left it. We were given keys to another room which was another floor up so back to dragging our suitcases with no help from the staff. The heater did not heat the room and the blankets are very thin. The door did not shut properly, so the room was very cold. The wifi did not work either. No one on duty, so nothing we could do. Upon leaving I told the desk clerk about my problems and she promised to let the manager know. I told her I expected the manager to compensate us for our issues. We have not heard from the management and even after stating all this on the review requested by the hotel, still no contact, but they did charge me the total amount. Actually, for me, it's not the money so much, it's the non-caring. We won't be back.
